I was excited to have breakfast in bed, which they told me over the phone the day prior of my arrival check-in date that they provide that services( March 2024). Once I get there they told me that they don’t due to Covid. Then they bought breakfast in bed on my last day. I honestly felt that it was a discrimination because we are a young and a minority couple.

The most important thing you should know (that we didn’t) is that hotel guests are 2nd class to any events that take place here. Period. There are only 20 rooms and they probably do not generate enough income to sustain the facility. Although room rentals are likely essential to fill out the Duke’s overall budget during nonevent times, you will feel marginalized during your stay here if an event is taking place. Apparently there are many.
We were unfortunately here during an event and basically relegated to staying in our room lest experience the unwelcoming glares of party goers towards us interlopers or potential party crashers (It happened). There was no where to go downstairs anyway as everything was closed off. Kind of reminded me of having to stay in my room as a kid during my parents “for adults only” parties. We booked the facility more than a month in advance but were notified of the event only a week prior and could not economically change our plans. In hindsight we should have canceled because we were not able to enjoy the property and the Duke did nothing special for the significant disruption of our stay.

The style and the decoration of the mansion is one of its own kind. We felt the history. The garden was also quite beautiful and nice for a short walk. We very much enjoyed the stay.

A great stay in a charming, historic mansion surrounded by beautiful gardens. Our room, on the third floor, had a large updated bathroom and was spacious, comfortable and quiet. Everyone there was very friendly and helpful - and the breakfast was wonderful.

I stayed here and believed the outside of the property was ascetically pleasing. The inside, the ceilings were stained, and furniture out dated/dingy. I understand nostalgia, but updates are necessary to be safe & clean. It was the baby roaches in my bathroom that confirmed my thoughts. I did get a picture. Staff however were wonderful and other guest extremely polite.

The property was lovely and tranquil. Our check in was very easy and the desk personnel was very friendly. The only complaint I have is that we were questioned several times the next morning on what room we were in as if we were not guests. We felt as though we were not welcome.
This was only the morning desk staff, not the evening.

The Duke Mansion is my go-to in Charlotte. Everything about it is top shelf. Wonderful location, quiet, great for a run, beautiful interior and exterior. Lovely breakfast included with room and the staff is the best!

Pros - Beautiful property, very large king room, wonderful breakfast, free parking, friendly staff
Cons - check in was slow since one staff member also had to work bar, carpet stain in bedroom
