The reason I gave a 3 and not a 5 is because there was no elevator….i am recovering from a broken ankle so it was tough…but, hey….i guess it was extra physical therapy…lol

Our stay at Howard Johnson hotel in Beckley W. Virginia was a positive experience: the room was pleasantly nice and clean, nice carpet, big bathroom. Great working refrigerator for my medical supplies. Staff was very friendly and professional.When we travel in this area , we will plan to stay there again!

There’s a list of things here. The hallways reek of cigarettes. The rooms themselves smell of cigarettes, but not as bad as the hallway. The hotel advertised a gym/fitness center yet had none. The breakfast’s only solid food was prepackaged hostess coffee cakes The hair dryer in our room was broken The vent in our bathroom was broken We found a cup of coffee sitting in the bathroom and the trash hadn’t been taken out. When I went downstairs to ask about where the gym is and showed them on the reservation where it was listed as an amenity they literally scoffed, laughed at me for a second, and then ignored me. They made me feel as if it was my fault to bother them not just this one time, but during check in as well. Beats sleeping in my car, but not by much!

Booked a non-smoking room and was given a smoking room. It was 12:30am and I was told that was all that was available this time. A mention of “reserved” rooms were being held for other guests. Since we needed to just out our heads down due to driving all day from FLA because of a canceled flight, me and my family just decided to deal with it. What a huge mistake…room smelled musty and smoke filled. Ashes were apparent in several spots in the room. Bed Sheets had holes in them. Finally, got to sleep and couldn’t shower the smell off quick enough at 6am. We proceeded to “continental” breakfast and another giant disappointment. I spoke to the hotel desk person and all he could say was I’m sorry. Needless to say, there’s not a chance we stay here again. Pictures from hotel website didn’t match much of anything in person. Never been so roundly disappointed in overnight travel accommodation in my life. Howard Johnson/Wyndham need to be much better,

It was supposed to be a Non Smoking floor but it reeked of Pot on the whole Floor! It went away for a bit and then later at night it reeked again and was sifting into the Room. Other than that room was clean and beds comfortable.

Needed just a one night stay here from our road trip. The room smelled musty and like smoke even though it was non smoking. The washroom looked fairly clean but smelled like urine before we even used it. The towels had stains on them and there was a coffee maker in the washroom... Price was good but never coming back here.

We were looking for an inexpensive option for an overnight on our way to South Carolina. The room was clean and the staff were courteous and friendly. Lots of places around to grab a bite. The hotel itself is a bit dated and the hallway smelled like someone was smoking but the room was fine with no odour. If you just need somewhere to stop off to sleep and recharge it’s a good option

Easily accessible! Although our room was considered non smoking, you could tell it had been a smoking room at one time... that's the only thing I wasn't happy about.

If you enjoy the smell of pot than this property is for you. Constant smell of pot everywhere. Beds don't come with a blanket just sheets. When we asked for blankets they only had one to give to us. Nighttime guy leaves a sign that says he is away and will be back in 5 minutes constantly.

The staff was readily available but not overly friendly. Lobby restrooms out of order. One front door was broken. Lobby was extremely dirty, had papers on floor in front of front desk, food crumbs all over lobby counters, cigarette butts in the lobby and on hallway floors. Price was good but you get what you pay for.
